Combination of Mechanical/Physical Pretreatments with Trypsin or Pancreatin on Arthrospira platensis Protein Degradation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Arthrospira platensis contains high protein content and quality, which makes it a promising feed source for livestock animals. However, this microalga presents recalcitrant peptidoglycan cell wall, its main proteins form protein-pigment complexes attached to the algal thylakoid membrane. The purpose of present study was evaluate effect mechanical/physical pretreatments (bead milling, extrusion, freeze-drying, heating, microwave sonication) combined with commercial enzymes (trypsin or pancreatin) on degradation A. proteins. Protein assessed through quantification total fractions (18–26 kDa, 40–48 kDa others) SDS-PAGE gels evaluation coefficient (CPD). results showed that no significant differences were found among treatments CPD values, except an increase related 18–26 (phycocyanin subunits) extrusion pancreatin. In addition, caused decrease in supernatant probably due denaturation/aggregation reduction solubility. Overall, is pretreatment wall disruption bioaccessibility. Further studies could elucidate how solubility affects activity peptidases degradation.

Role of pH on antioxidants production by Spirulina (Arthrospira) platensis

Algae can tolerate a broad range of growing conditions but extreme conditions may lead to the generation of highly dangerous reactive oxygen species (ROS), which may cause the deterioration of cell metabolism and damage cellular components. The antioxidants produced by algae alleviate the harmful effects of ROS. While the enhancement of antioxidant production in blue green algae under stress ha...

Arthrospira Platensis – Potential in Dermatology and Beyond

The search for natural products with benefits for health in general and of potential for treating human disease has gained wider interest world-wide. Here, we analyse current data on the microalga Arthrospira platensis (AP), that has been used in nutrition since ancient times in Fare East and African communities, for medical purposes with a focus on dermatology. Extracts of AP have been investi...

Antioxidant effects of Spirulina platensis (Arthrospira platensis) on ‎cyclophosphamide-induced testicular injury in rats

Cyclophosphamide (CP) is known to reduce fertility. The protective effects of Spirulina plantesis (SP) against CP-induced testicular toxicity were investigated. Male Wistar rats were categorized into eight groups (n = 7). Four groups of rats were administered CP at a dose of 5 mg in 5 mL distilled water kg-1 per day orally. Two of these groups were received SP (500 and 1000 ...

Combination of environmental stress and localization of l-asparaginase in Arthrospira platensis for production improvement

The diverse applications of L-asparaginase have led us to explore new sources of this enzyme. Arthrospira platensis has been scarcely reported as a new candidate for L-asparaginase production. In the present study, we localized L-asparaginase in A. platensis and enhanced its production. Enzyme localization was conducted by culturing cells in SOT medium and extracting the enzymes from different ...
